About Wyoming Farmers Marketing Association
The Wyoming Farmers’ Marketing Association is committed to promoting Wyoming’s farmer’s markets and local food producers through education, advocacy and networking. The organization is a non-profit and is governed by a board of directors consisting of farmers, market managers and local/state/federal agency representatives.
The Wyoming Farmers’ Marketing Association strives to:
- Promote direct marketing avenues for Wyoming agricultural products.
- Advocate for the interest and respond to the needs of farmers’ markets and direct marketing farmers.
- Educate farmers and consumers about the benefits of direct marketing and the importance of supporting local agriculture and community.
- Work with Wyoming Department of Agriculture Consumer Health Services to promote safe food handling practices at farmers’ markets. Offer educational material aimed at increasing consumer awareness of grower and consumer responsibility relating to food safety.
- Work with Wyoming Department of Agriculture Technical Services regarding agriculture product standards.
- Provide a means whereby markets can benefit from joint promotional strategies.
- Speak in general on behalf of farmers’ markets and farm direct marketing.
